Friday Feature: What's Making Me Happy?

I know...long time since I've posted. I know...I stink. Well, I'm working a demanding job AND taking classes for my second round of grad school, so...yeah. There's that. Anyway, I thought I'd take a tip from one of my favorite podcasts (NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour) and start a feature that will help me to blog more consistently. Every Friday, I will feature a post with a few things that are making me squeal with joy...

So let's get started with the first post!

Revenge on ABC, Wednesdays at 10/9c

After fighting it for several weeks, I have to admit....This TV show is THE TRUTH. I happened upon it by chatting with a co-worker one day about cheesy TV. Besides my favorite crime dramas, I hadn't really found too many shows to LOVE outside of reality and comedies. I LOVE this one. Cheesy? Yes! Acting reminiscent of the 80's TV soap dramas? Yes! Does it pull you in? YES!

Quick recap -- the show is about a young lady (Emily) that is out to avenge her father's business/personal demise and wreak havoc on the Hamptonites that framed her father. She's been plotting it for most of her life and someone is targeted each week or so. Madeline Stowe is FANTASTIC as Victoria Grayson and Miss Emily(...er...Amanda) is played with perfection by Emily VanCamp.

Only thing that I'm confused/concerned/fascinated with...what happens when she 'gets' everyone that framed her pops? Someone else gets revenge? She avenges some other person's tragedy - like working as a 'consultant'? These questions, like the show, make me happy!

Don't worry...you can still catch up before the finale rolls around. You won't be sorry!

Next on my happy list:

Get Glue

Yes...an app is making me happy. Imagine that! :) That is the catchy logo for Get Glue, a not-so-new website or app for 'checking-in' to let the world know what you're watching, listening to, thinking about, or reading! HEAVEN!!!!! I don't remember how I stumbled upon this site, but I have had a great time interacting with other people watching the same shows and I've even found a few new things to watch...or be scared of watching (The Walking Dead).

It's absolutely free to join and all you have to do is link your Twitter or Facebook profile and you're ready to start 'checking-in'. You can play around online OR stay connected on your Android, iPhone, or iPad!
Go check it out and find me out there, too!

And the next source of happy:
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands. Another confession though...when I was relaxed, I HATED their stuff. When I did the big-chop last November, I tried the product line again. STILL HATED THEM. I'd been in Sephora sniffing all kinds of philosophy goodness and I strolled over to the hair products side. There it was. Carol's Daughter. The brand that I am *expected* to love as a natural woman with textured/curly hair. Ugh. And then...I started smelling stuff. And re-reading ingredients. I left without anything that day. Then, my girl Elle tried the hair balm and loved it. I mean, raved about it. So...I hustled back out to Sephora that week and copped the 'Jada's Dynamic Duo'.
Jada's Dynamic Hair Duo from Carol's Daughter

Used the hair balm on my straightened (blown-out) hair. Melted right into my hair and kept my hair moisturized all day...and the next...and the next. And once I considered that I am RARELY able to get natural products on the ground where I live, I decided to take the plunge again. I smelled the Monoi Collection in the store. FELL. IN. LOVE. Ahhhhhh....
I won't go into a long review here, but........hot diggity-dog this stuff ROCKS.
My olfactory senses are happy. My hair is happy.
And since I don't have to get this online, my UPS man may not be happy. Two out of 3 ain't bad!
Stay tuned for a full review.

OH...And before I go....one more quick thing. I don't even have to tell you why it makes me happy. Thanks to the Pop Culture Happy Hour family for giving me this bit of glee.

That's all for this week. I hope you enjoy and please...encourage me to keep it going!
